Waiting for a favorable response to their demand for 500 hectares for the construction of a solar parkthere are members of the Joaquín Amaro Ejido in the municipality of Navojoa.
The representative of the ejidatarios, Ruperto Castro González, expressed that negotiations are being held with the State Government, to whom they stated that they do not want to donate the lands as they have been asked, in exchange for various community benefit projects.
He explained that the Ejido Joaquín Amaro has 116 members and the majority are in favor of renting hectares.
Castro González clarified that the ejidatarios are not opposed to the growth, development and progress of that town and surrounding communities, “but that should not occur at the expense of older and needier people.”
According to information from the president of the Commissariat, Gerardo Duarte Cota, he mentioned that said places, which belong to the Foundry police station, would receive, in exchange for the donation, benefits of irrigation water, agricultural and livestock projects, a health center, improvements of schools, a multipurpose center, among others.
However, “what we want is a direct benefit, because the donation is not applicable, since it is a parceled ejido, not for common use.”
Castro González explained that they want to disincorporate the 500 hectares from the ejido regime and, for example, in the event that someone owns eight hectares and has to donate four, it is not appropriate.
“For many years we have fought, our parents and we, for these lands, to lose them just like that; that is why we must remain firm in this position,” he pointed out.
