A few days ago, the Metz-Thionville CHR inaugurated its new rheumatology day hospitalization platform (HDJ) at Bel-Air hospital, a platform shared with the neurology activity. Medical offices, rooms, the waiting room were renovated and a brand new ultrasound machine was acquired. The first in the service… This restructuring was possible thanks to the commitment of the Inter Establishment Center and its head, Dr Gaël Cinquetti.
Why was this rehabilitation of the HDJ rheumatology platform necessary?
Dr Gaël Cinquetti : “Rheumatology has been in great difficulty in Moselle in recent years. In ten years, for example, it has lost 30% of specialists. Treatment times have lengthened and there was a real challenge in seeing patients with progressive inflammatory diseases earlier. We therefore had to rethink the sector from a territorial point of view, within the framework of the Territoire Lorraine Nord Hospital Group, and by inviting partners, not just hospital ones. In 2022, we relied on the Inter-Establishment Center for Multipurpose Internal Medicine in North Lorraine (MédIPOL) to achieve this. »
How does MédIPOL work?
“MédIPOL relies on the CHR Metz-Thionville, the HIA Legouest – we are consolidating our partnership with them – and soon on the Boulay hospital. Its internal medicine and rheumatology sector is made up of eight departments spread across Metz and Thionville. The Bel-Air hospital thus has a day hospital and consultations open every day. And we do not forget the Therapeutic Patient Education (chronic inflammatory rheumatism and osteoporosis) which is active there. Nurses and young practitioners in the sector are trained in ETP. »
What are his plans?
“Its academicization! The sector is now mature enough to work on this subject, since it is able to attract young doctors. »
