An explosive device was thrown into the porch of a house on Oude Hoogstraat in the Red Light District this evening. The porch was severely damaged by the explosion. No injuries were reported, although the police said it was ‘a miracle’.
The explosive was thrown through the letterbox of the building around 7:45 p.m. A police spokesperson speaks of a ‘life-threatening action’. “Fortunately there were no injuries, but that is a miracle. The street is right in the center and there were a lot of people walking around at the time.”
The Defense Explosives Reconnaissance Team Leader (TEV) was called to the street to investigate, for which a large part of the Oude Hoogstraat was cordoned off. The Forensic Investigation (FO) was also on site for the investigation.
To give evidence
There is no trace of the suspect. Due to the large number of people who were in the area at the time, the police hope that witnesses who saw something will come forward. Local residents with a video doorbell or dashcam are also asked to share the images.
