Tottenham Hotspur Defeats Fulham 2-0, Taking Top Spot in Premier League Standings

Tottenham Hotspur managed to beat Fulham 2-0. This victory brought The Lilywhites back to the top of the standings.

Tottenham Hotspur host Fulham at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League match, Tuesday (24/10). The hosts took a 1-0 lead minutes into the first half.

Tottenham’s opening goal came through Son Heung-min. The Lilywhites were able to add one goal in the second half through a score from James Madisson in the 54th minute.

Tottenham closed the 90 minutes with a 2-0 win. This result makes Tottenham to the top of the standings.

They collected 21 points, two points ahead of Manchester City in second place. Meanwhile, Fulham is in 13th position with 11 points.

The Course of the Match

Fulham had a chance to take the lead in the 12th minute. However, Joao Palhinha’s effort was still denied by Guigliemo Vicario.

Tottenham turned to threaten in the 30th minute. Dejan Kulusevski’s action could free Richarlison. Richarlison’s shot unfortunately went wide.

Goal!!! Tottenham broke the deadlock in the 36th minute. They pressed nicely in the Fulham defense area. Richarlison then released a pass which Son Heung-min managed to neatly turn into a goal.

Goal!!! Again, Tottenham’s high pressing made Fulham lose the ball. This time Son gave the ball to Jamis Maddison who was able to get his name on the scoreboard.

Fulham, who were two goals behind, tried to reduce the gap. They appeared more dominant in controlling the ball.

However, The Cottagers are still bothered by Tottenham’s pressing. This made the visiting team not free to develop their game.

Tottenham was able to maintain a 2-0 lead until the match was over.
