One of Creative Artists Agency’s (CAA, editor’s note) top agents has recently been in trouble, as a result of statements made in connection with the war in the Middle East.
Taking action after the scandal
Maha Dakhil, who represents major celebrities such as Tom Cruise, Natalie Portman and Madonna, shared a post on Instagram that was originally posted on an account called “Free Palestine”, writes Variety.

The picture read: “You are currently learning who supports genocide.” Dakhil wrote that it was that stanza that resonated with her, and later added the following:

“What’s even more heartbreaking than witnessing genocide? To witness people denying that genocide is happening”.
Dakhil received a large amount of criticism for the statements and has since deleted both posts. She has also apologized for criticizing Israel.

– I made a mistake when I reposted that post on Instagram, which had hurtful language. As for so many of us, this hurts my heart so much. I am proud that I am on the side of humanity and peace.
She further explained:

Now the agent has had to resign from CAA’s internal board, and also quits as one of the leaders in the company’s film department, writes Los Angeles Times.
She will continue to represent the clients she has, and still has a job at CAA.
