Currently, AFD interest rates for Intermediary Financial Institutions (IFIs) vary between 5% and 6%, which allows banks, finance companies and cooperatives to place loans with rates starting at 7.9%. The intention is that, through this law, the AFD obtains an annual injection of capital to reduce these margins and make the dream of the first home much more affordable for everyone.
In an interview with 5Días Stella Guillén, president of the institution, emphasized the bank’s role in transforming the financial landscape, through competitive interest rates and terms, providing long-term financing opportunities for projects such as housing and reforestation, which which in turn drives the growth of investment in the private sector.
