The Playstation 5 game Spider-Man 2 has set a record.

For Sony reports that Spider-Man 2, only for Sony’s latest, has sold over 2.5 million copies only 24 hours after its launch on Friday 20 October. The number also means that Insomniac’s superhero game is the fastest selling game from Playstation Studios ever. To put that into perspective, it took six days to sell three million copies of “Final Fantasy XVI.”
Nothing has been confirmed of course, but it would not surprise anyone if there will be a third game in the series. The first game in the series, Spider-Man, was launched in September 2018 for Playstation 4.
Spider-Man 2 has a score of 91 on Metacritic, and is currently just below Super Mario Bros. Wonder with 93 points. ITavisen was somewhat more critical of the sequel in our test on 16 October: “The story is by far the best thing about the game. Good game mechanics make it a joy to swing around, but boring combat makes it almost feel like a waste.”
