The results of the study revealed that drinking coffee, black tea, or green tea in middle age was independently associated with a lower probability of developing physical frailty in late life, and that participants who drank four or more cups of coffee per day significantly reduced the probability of physical frailty in late life. Compared to participants who did not drink coffee daily, those who drank black tea and green tea daily had significantly lower odds of physical weakness, compared to those who did not drink tea.

The study concluded that consuming larger amounts of caffeine was associated with a lower risk of physical frailty.
