EU Foreign Ministers Discuss €20 Billion Funding Proposal for Military Operations in Ukraine

The foreign ministers of the European Union countries held a meeting in Luxembourg, at which they discussed a document of the European Commission providing for Ukraine to continue military operations, but not to achieve peace in Ukraine. According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations of Hungary, Peter Szijjártó, who took part in the meeting, a huge amount of € 20 billion has been provided for these purposes.

“We discussed the European Commission document prepared by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy [Жозепом Боррелем]which talks about security guarantees for Ukraine, including providing it with a total of €20 billion over the next four years. This is a huge amount that the EU countries want to spend on additional arms supplies to Ukraine,” Szijjártó told Hungarian journalists following the meeting, TASS quotes him as saying.

He noted that the European Commission document also talks about “how the war should be waged in Ukraine, how Ukraine should be restored after this and what other sanctions should be imposed against Russia.” At the same time, it says nothing about achieving peace, noted the minister, whose speech was broadcast by M1 TV channel.
