Syrian Authorities Allow Entry of Lebanese Artist Wadih Al-Sheikh Despite Union Restrictions

According to special information for the “Al Fan” website, the Syrian authorities did not prevent the Lebanese artist Wadih Al-Sheikh from entering its territory, according to what some news reported. The information said that the Syrian Artists Syndicate, headed by Captain Fouad Ghazi, was the one who prevented Al-Sheikh from singing in Syria.

The information said that the name of the sheikh was among the names that were banned from singing in Syria due to the words used by some of them on stage, as happened with the Lebanese artist Sarah Zakaria, who was banned and then pledged not to sing any phrase that does not fit with the union’s rules.

The sheikh did not seek to settle his artistic situation in Syria for reasons that are still unknown.
