KOŠICE. They have lost six matches in a row in the Nike League. Football Košice is changing its coach.
Anton Šoltis ended up on the bench with the entire staff. The club confirmed the information on its website website.
“I confirm that Anton Šoltis and his assistants ended up as coaches of FC Košice. The negative series without a point gain as well as the fluctuating performance of the team decided that we will not continue our cooperation.
I am personally sorry because Tóno Šoltis has done a lot for our club. He advanced with the team to the league, for which he deserves thanks, but we decided to make a change,” announced FC Košice general manager Pavol Turczyk.
Košice lost to Banská Bystrica 2:4 over the weekend. Even a two-goal lead was not enough for them to score points. The fan club shouted: Šoltis out.
“I didn’t like it, because coach Šoltis didn’t deserve this. I understand that the audience wants to see victories and goals above all, but we are here in the management of the club since the personnel issues are resolved.
We would like to thank Anton Šoltis and his assistants for working in our club. I would also like to wish them all the best in their future careers. “Football brings different moments, including less pleasant ones, but we should not forget what these guys did for FC Košice,” he added.
The name of Košice’s new coach is not yet known. Negotiations with potential successors are currently ongoing.
