Lenovo is known for its high-quality PCs and laptops, but the tech giant has been expanding into future technologies over the past few years, all of which were on display at GITEX 2023. For this year, the company has adopted its new “The Year to Imagine AI in Everything” initiative, which aims to… To showcase a comprehensive approach to integrating the power of AI into our daily lives.
We spoke to Thibault Dousson, Director of Services and Solutions Group at META at Lenovo, to see what they have for us in the future.
PCMAG ME: Please give a little introduction to the Lenovo range and what it has to offer at GITEX 2023.
Thibaut Dawson: We are a global technology engine serving millions of customers every day in 180 markets. We built our success as the world’s largest PC hardware company and expanded into new IT technologies such as edge, cloud, network and more. We have three main operations, namely ISG, IDG and SSG.
ISG: Our Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) is the intelligent infrastructure solutions wing that provides customized products for businesses and organizations of all sizes. Our data-driven approach leverages our proprietary oversight, solutions and technologies to enable smart commerce, manufacturing, smart cities, smart healthcare and beyond.
IDG: Our Intelligent Device Group (IDG) consists of PCs and smart devices, which we have been in business for over 30 years. Our portfolio at IDG includes products and solutions from PC and smartphone to intelligent collaboration as well as augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR).
SSG: Our Solutions and Services Group (SSG) combines IT solutions and services across all other business units into a customized “as a service” offering. With SSG, we empower our customers by delivering everything from the enclave to the cloud via a single contract under TruScale.
This year at GITEX 2023, we are staying true to the event’s theme AI in Everything, adopting a comprehensive approach to showcasing how AI can be seamlessly integrated into our daily lives. This foundation is achieved through the power of AI and high-performance computing, which we will help customers understand through an immersive experience. The trial will demonstrate how Lenovo is enhancing the use of AI in the technology we use every day, from buildings, grocery stores, offices and classrooms, to critical infrastructure such as citizen safety, energy, civil defense and aviation logistics among others.
Has GITEX always been a major event for you? What successes have you seen from previous releases?
Thibaut Dawson: GITEX has always been a major event for us. We believe this major event is a cornerstone of innovation and technology in the region, welcoming some of the industry’s greatest minds. In the past, our involvement with GITEX has led to the formation of new relationships, whether with partners, clients or even new clients, giving us the opportunity to understand their needs from the first hand.
What’s exciting at Lenovo’s booth during GITEX?
Thibaut Dawson: Our pavilion will provide visitors with an immersive experience of how artificial intelligence works in their daily lives. However, more than that, we will be sharing insights into its implementation and how it can improve your daily life. Our booth at GITEX 2023 is an immersive experience as we welcome visitors to participate in an interactive experience that shows the impact of artificial intelligence in our lives. This experience will take our visitors through a story of how AI plays a role, from waking up in the morning to returning home after a long day, focusing on the world around us and exactly what AI does.
We will also highlight our partnerships during the event. For example, we’ve partnered with DreamWorks Animation and Kate Swanborg from DreamWorks Animation will be giving a keynote about how they’re collaborating with Lenovo to redefine animated filmmaking.
What interested you in GITEX 2023?
Thibaut Dawson: At Lenovo we are actively investing in AI, and this is evident through our dedicated solutions and products. We are happy to see such widespread acceptance of AI, even in the enterprise storage sector, where there is a growing demand for more powerful and smarter devices. We have always been at the forefront of early adopters of AI, providing solutions with robust infrastructure with GPUs, NPUs or monolithic computing and more powerful hardware, effectively making us future-ready.
