Ajax is having a historically bad season. The Amsterdam team is currently penultimate in the Eredivisie. The club is cleaning up at the top of the club and after Louis van Gaal (adviser), another big name is returning. That made it official.
Blindly back to Ajax
“The Supervisory Board (SB) of Ajax nominates Danny Blind as a new member of the Supervisory Board. The nomination will be decided at an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGM) to be organised. It concerns a nomination for appointment for the period from this EGM, up to and including the General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM) in 2027,” the club said.
“Danny Blind (East Souburg, August 1, 1961) won many national and international prizes as a player and captain with Ajax 1 and, after his active football career, fulfilled several technical and managerial positions at the club. The 493-time Ajax player was in the period of April 2018 to August 2021 also a member of the Supervisory Board,” it continues.
What about Steijn?
The coming weeks will reveal whether there will also be a change in the technical staff. Maurice Steijn is having none of it and his position is under pressure. Obviously the core is not Ajax-worthy, but even with this selection he should be able to achieve more than what he is doing now.
After he completely burned down his own selection for a few weeks, something seems to have broken between players and trainer. An untenable situation.
