Yesterday, the Al-Sharqiya Health Cluster, represented by Public Health, activated the seasonal influenza vaccination campaign in 120 health centers in all regions and governorates of the Eastern Region, coinciding with the beginning of the seasonal influenza season, and in an effort to protect the target group from the risk of infection and avoid its complications.
He explained that vaccination is the most effective way to prevent the disease or its complications, indicating that safe and successful vaccines have been available and used for more than 60 years, as it has been proven that the influenza vaccine reduces the risk of going to the hospital by 60%, reduces the severity of the disease and protects adults from entering care. Concentration due to influenza by 82%, in addition to contributing to protecting the health of pregnant women and an effective preventive method for patients with chronic diseases and children.
Al-Sharqiya Health Cluster reported that 7 target groups have been identified for this year 2023 for vaccination with the seasonal influenza vaccine, and they are: pregnant women, children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years, adults aged 50 years and over, patients with kidney failure, health practitioners, and people with heart disease. People with chronic lung diseases, including asthma, people with hereditary blood diseases, people with chronic nervous system diseases, people with chronic liver diseases, tumor patients, diabetics, and patients with hereditary or acquired immune weakness, who have priority in obtaining the vaccine.
He called on other segments of society to obtain the vaccine, which will contribute to protecting everyone around them from the risk of contracting the disease and the risk of its severe complications, God forbid.
It is noteworthy that Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Emir of the Eastern Province, launched a vaccination campaign against seasonal influenza last week at the headquarters of the emirate of the region.
