It may be a long time before a new James Bond film hits theaters. Producer Barbara Broccoli says the character needs to undergo a modernization process.
“I think the Bond films reflect the times in which they are set,” Broccoli said in conversation with The Guardian. “We still have a long way to go to reinvent that for the next film. And we haven’t even started that modernization process yet.”
Broccoli explains that the character of James Bond gets a good look every time a new actor takes on the role of the secret agent. Daniel Craig played Bond from 2006 to 2021. No Time To Die was his last Bond film.
According to producer Broccoli, the next film should reflect how the world has changed in the twenty years that Craig played the famous agent 007. With Craig in the lead role, the creators wanted to focus on what a “hero in the 21st century would look like”. “Daniel gave us the opportunity to show the emotional life of the character.”
It is not yet clear who will succeed Craig in the role of the well-known secret agent. The reality series will air on Prime Video in November 007: Road to a Million premiere, in which nine duos travel the world and embark on adventures inspired by the Bond films. Broccoli is also involved as a producer.
