Successful premiere for the Ledder Werkstätten’s QuBuS (qualification, education and service) education center: For the first time, the educational leaders invited people to the open house afternoon at Ruthemeiers Esch – and hundreds of guests came. Among them were many relatives with their children who still attend a special school, but also representatives of the regional association, other providers or young people who have already started their educational program, as the Ledder workshops report.
Once they have completed special school, many young people ask themselves what happens next. For some, the general labor market remains too challenging for the time being. People with mental illnesses or disabilities that they acquired during their working life also receive vocational training. On Friday afternoon, the experts provided answers to all questions on these topics. The guests were also able to find out first-hand information from the young people who are already here every day.
50 LeWe employees work in companies
The training program lasts a total of 27 months and qualifies you for a working life in the workshop, but also for a possible move to the general job market later. The professional inclusion service was available for this purpose and explained models of how people with disabilities can work in companies in the region. Many guests were probably amazed at the variety of companies that employ people with disabilities. Currently around 50 employees go to a company somewhere in the Steinfurt district every day and are accompanied by LeWe, according to Ledder Werkstätten.
The (new) start into professional life revolves around vocational training on the one hand, but also on personal development and person-centered support on the other. It’s about a satisfied, well-tailored professional life, say those responsible. This was a message on Friday: Vocational training does not stop with the starting modules in Ladbergen, but the workshop system is permeable in terms of rehabilitation – right up to the possibility of transitioning into employment subject to social insurance contributions.
On the other hand, 120 people with severe and multiple disabilities at four LeWe locations experience participation through work and a valuable daily structure. How this works in practice could also be seen in Ladbergen.
