After the singer previously shared remarkable excerpts from her memoir – which will be released tomorrow, October 24 – music video director Chris Applebaum now also shares another striking anecdote from ‘Page Six’.
Spears and Timberlake were a couple between 1999 and 2002, during the early years of their careers. Nothing was revealed about the exact reason for their breakup, but director Chris Applebaum does know how their relationship came to an end and how the singer reacted to it. The ‘Cry Me A River’ singer dumped her via a short text message, which she received during the recording of her music video for the remix of ‘Overprotected: The Dark Child’ in 2002.

“It was a 24-hour shoot day. At one point Britney disappeared and I went to her trailer to pick her up. Only to discover that Justin had broken up with her via text message. We sat on the floor for a minute and talked.” He told ‘Page Six’ that she let him read the message and said she “couldn’t believe it.” The message stated succinctly: “It’s over”.
Spears, however, had no intention of giving up. On the contrary. “If you don’t have what it takes to move on, I completely understand. But if you want to go out there and finish this set, you can show him that he just made the biggest damn mistake of his life.” This pep talk did not miss its effect. “You know what? That is a good idea. I’m going to show him that he ruined the best thing he ever had.”

Memoires ‘The Woman in Me’
Britney Spears’ much-discussed memoir, ‘The Woman in Me’, will hit shelves on October 24. But as a preview, Spears previously released some first excerpts to ‘People’ and ‘The New York Times’. And they certainly weren’t bad for the former *NSYNC singer. For example, it was revealed that she was pregnant with Timberlake between 1999 and 2002, but had an abortion. “He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.” It remains to be seen what other revelations will emerge.
