AFP news agency reported on the 22nd (local time) that Iran warned Israel, which is engaged in an armed conflict with the Palestinian armed political faction Hamas, and the United States, which supports it, to “stop the genocide.”

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said this at a joint press conference with South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Naledi Pandor held in the capital Tehran on this day, saying, “I warn the United States and its proxy (Israel).”

Minister Abdollahian said, “If they do not immediately stop their crimes against humanity and genocide in the Gaza Strip, anything can happen at any moment and the Middle East will become uncontrollable.”

While Israel has repeatedly emphasized its will to push for the deployment of ground troops in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, it is interpreted that Iran has indicated its intention to intervene.

Israeli Army Chief of Staff (IDF) Herzy Halevi told the commanders of the Golan Infantry Regiment the night before, “We will enter the Gaza Strip,” and “We will carry out operations and professional missions to destroy Hamas’ operational facilities and infrastructure.” “I will do it,” he said. Prior to this, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant also said to the IDF that they would soon see the Gaza Strip “from the inside.”

On the other hand, Minister Amir Abdollahian targeted Israel on the same day, saying, “The ferocity and aggressive actions of this ostracized regime, its desecration of sacred religions, and its onslaught on humanity’s historical and cultural heritage are caused by uncivilized terrorist groups and Daesh (the Arab world is IS). It continues to stimulate anti-Israel sentiment in Middle Eastern countries by fiercely criticizing it by saying, “It is completely similar to the term referring to .”

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will visit Iran on the 23rd, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced the day before. Spokesperson Zakharova confirmed that Minister Lavrov plans to attend the ‘3+3′ format foreign ministers’ meeting in Tehran, Iran, the Russian state-run Ria Novosti news agency reported.

Amid concerns that the conflict between Israel and Hamas may escalate, attention is focused on what kind of discussions Russia will have with Iran, which is known to support Hamas.

The ‘3+3’ format meeting, which was launched last year, is a platform to discuss cooperation with the participation of the foreign ministers of Iran, Russia, Turkiye, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia. Georgia does not participate in this meeting. Georgia said that Russia was occupying its territory and that it would not participate in diplomatic events involving Russia until this issue was resolved.

Russia’s Interfax news agency reported that the meeting is expected to discuss the political, economic, transportation, energy, and security issues of the participating countries, as well as the issue of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. There is a possibility that peace negotiations between the two countries experiencing conflict over the Nagorno-Karabakh region will be discussed.

Russia, which has been under Western sanctions since launching a special military operation in Ukraine in February last year, has been strengthening military and economic cooperation with Iran, which is also subject to Western sanctions. While Russia emphasizes that it will maintain a balance between Israel and Palestine, it refrains from criticizing Hamas and supports the establishment of an independent Palestinian state as a solution to the conflict.

While expressing support for Palestine and Hamas, Turkiye is claiming to be a mediator by proposing a peace guarantee plan involving several countries.
