The DKI Health Department must be fast and alert
Jakarta (ANTARA) – DKI Jakarta DPRD member Hardiyanto Kenneth has urged the DKI Health Service (Dinkes) to move quickly to deal with cases of monkey pox in Jakarta.
“The DKI Health Office must be quick and alert to the increasing cases of monkey pox or mpox in Jakarta because it is transmitted through respiratory droplets,” said Kenneth in Jakarta, Sunday.
Kenneth explained, although monkey pox is not transmitted through the air for a short time, this disease can spread from direct contact with sufferers.
He emphasized that serious vigilance is needed because there are residents of DKI who have been infected so that it doesn’t end up happening again like the previous COVID-19 pandemic.
Moreover, Indonesia will soon be holding its five-yearly democracy party and this will bring many people together.

He assessed that monkey pox has demonstrated a public health emergency situation that the public must be aware of.
“This should be a concern for the DKI Health Office to immediately carry out contact tracing of patients if someone is infected,” he said.
Kenneth also appealed to the public, especially the DKI Jakarta area, to maintain personal hygiene by diligently wearing a mask if they feel unwell and diligently washing their hands using running water and soap.
Apart from that, also avoid physical contact with people who are sick with fever, have symptoms of redness, acne, wounds, and water-streaking on their skin.
A number of these diseases should be recommended to immediately go to the nearest doctor or hospital.

Then have safe, clean, healthy sexual intercourse using a condom.
“If you find symptoms and signs like monkey pox, you are expected to immediately report to a health service facility so that it can be treated immediately,” he said.
Previously, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and the Ministry of Health carried out detection to prevent cases of monkey pox (monkeypox) in Indonesia, especially Jakarta.
“The Indonesian Ministry of Health and the DKI Provincial Government (through the Health Service) carried out ‘detect’, ‘prevent’ (prevent), ‘respond’ (response) to prevent an outbreak (widespread cases of monkey pox),” said the Head of the Surveillance, Epidemiology and Immunization of the DKI Jakarta Health Service (Dinkes) Ngabila Salama.
As of October 20 2023, three positive cases of monkey pox were found in Jakarta.

“One more positive case was added yesterday. So one case was detected in August 2022, one case on October 12 2023 and one case on October 19 2023. All were found in Jakarta,” said Ngabila.
Ngabila explained that the third case of mpox was not related to the findings of the second case. Meanwhile, the first patient detected in August 2022 has been declared cured.
Apart from that, DKI Jakarta reported five people suspected of being mpox. Two of the five people have tested negative. The five came from different and unrelated cases.
“In Jakarta, apart from the positive cases on October 18, there were two suspects, all of whom were negative. On October 20, there were three additional suspected cases and the investigation process is ongoing. So, the five suspects above are different cases and we are examining them. The results are two negative , three are waiting for the results,’ said Ngabila.
