Tesla CEO Elon Musk Discusses Challenges in Production of Highly Anticipated Cybertruck

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said that production of the upcoming Tesla Cybertruck is extremely difficult, as Musk tries to reduce expectations and hype for a car that has been eagerly awaited for several years.

“I’d like to temper the expectations for Cybertruck a bit. It’s a great product, but it will take at least a year or even 18 months before it becomes a significant source of income for the company,” Musk said when announcing the 3rd quarter financial results, adding that Tesla dug its own grave with this car. This suggests that the Cybertruck will be produced in small quantities, at least initially.

He explains this situation by the fact that the Cybertruck is a completely new model, but Tesla has historically had a difficult time with the production of new models, with volumes increasing very slowly and gradually. He also notes new types of production technologies that also complicate processes.

“This is normal when a product with many new technologies is developed or when talking about a new model program. Especially when it comes to such a very different and technologically advanced product as Cybertruck,” said Musk. “I want to emphasize that, first of all, this is our best product ever, but it will take an incredible amount of effort to turn a profit by selling the machine at a price that people can afford to pay.”

The head of Tesla has indicated that deliveries should start in November, but this deadline has been pushed back countless times, so you shouldn’t rely too much on it.
