Nissan Hyper Punk: The Origami-Style SUV with Futuristic Features

Thanks to the abundance of polygonal shapes, it looks like an origami-style SUV. The seemingly angular wheels will attract attention, but of course they only mask their impractical shape.

The interior is equally futuristic, with no buttons as all controls seem to be limited to a few touch buttons on the steering wheel. Origami-inspired elements surround the driver, who sits inside what Nissan calls a “mobile creative studio.” That’s because Hyper Punk is tailored to influencers and digital content creators, according to the automaker.

For this purpose, Nissan has installed on-board cameras that capture the surroundings of the vehicle, and the images are then transformed into a digital spectacle in the style of Japanese manga using artificial intelligence. As hard as it sounds, the converted images are then displayed on three screens installed on the dashboard, where a centrally located vertical display is flanked by a pair of horizontal screens.

AI serves a second purpose as it works in conjunction with biosensors mounted in the headrests to automatically detect the driver’s mood and change ambient lighting and music accordingly.

The Japanese automaker has not released technical specifications, which is not surprising, since this eccentric concept has zero chance of mass production. It will make its physical debut at the Tokyo Motor Show on October 25, when the electric crossover will also be available in Fortnite.
