The director of Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza stated that the number of deaths among kidney failure patients is increasing. Due to the lack of provision of dialysis units as a result of the collapse of the medical system in Palestine, especially Gaza after the bombing of Baptist Hospital, and the failure to provide medical care or even simple supplies.

Regarding this, Dr. Samer Morsy, Assistant Professor of Urology at Kasr Al-Aini Faculty of Medicine, confirmed that kidney failure means a defect in kidney function, when the kidneys become unable to purify the body of toxins, and maintain the balance of body fluids, chemicals, and blood acidity. This leads to kidney failure, as waste products accumulate in various tissues of the body.

The assistant professor of urology added that kidney failure is one of the diseases for which medicine cannot determine a specific age group for its infection.

He stressed that in the event of kidney failure, the patient has two types of treatment: The first is dialysis, and the second is transplantation.

He explained that dialysis is an important treatment method for a patient with kidney failure, and the reason is that it needs to purify the body of toxins and purify it. Therefore, the treating physician determines the number of times to undergo dialysis, as some cases require two to three times a week.

He pointed out that there are many health complications that a patient with kidney failure is exposed to when he skips scheduled dialysis sessions, and the body’s systems are affected in a negative way, such as a defect in the level of consciousness, and thus an inability to concentrate or activate memory occurs, and the brain and liver are affected. And nerves and causes infiltration in the lung, and all of this exposes patients with kidney failure to death.

The assistant professor of urology urged the need for dialysis patients to conduct their sessions on time, to avoid complications.
