– I will go home and continue to try and contact my family, but no one answers the phone. They don’t have electricity, says Zourob to VG on Saturday evening.

The message came in the form of news reports on Facebook, which is the way he gets to know what is happening in Gaza.

Gaza has had no electricity for several days, and contact with the outside world has been greatly reduced. He has had no contact with his family for three days.

In the messages, which he has shared with VG, it lists where it has been bombed, who has been killed, and who is still missing. In two of the messages you can see pictures of body bags with the names of the family members written on them.

He has also shown VG a video that he has been sent. In the video, a man lifts up a dead baby. According to Zoroub, the video shows the youngest family member he lost in the attack, two-month-old Lana.

12 of his family members are on the death lists.

– My heart is broken

Khader Saad Ahmed Zouorb fled with his wife from Palestine in 2014. They have established themselves in Tromsø and made success with the food truck Green Falaffel and the restaurant Yalla Habibi.

On Saturday, Tromsø met him at work, where he is often at weekends, at the newly opened restaurant in Storgatbakken. But the working day has been tough.

Before going to work, he shared a post on his Facebook page – with one of the images of white body bags marked with the names of several of his cousins.

Then he had received the message that the housing complex in which his aunt’s family lives had been hit in an air raid at 06:00 at night.

First he saw it on Facebook, then watched the news.

– My heart is broken, I have nothing else to say, he says to iTromsø.

These are the names of the family members who are on the list of those killed:

Fidaa Mahmoud Musa Zouorb Fatima Mahmoud Musa Zouorb Sabah Ahmed Musa Zouorb Siwar Rizq Suleiman (Muhammad Ali Rizq Zouorb). Set up by Khalil Muhammad Zouorb. Mahmoud Musa Mahmoud Zouorb, and barn. Iman Mahmoud Musa Zouorb.

– The only thing we do is watch TV

Zourob says that the last contact he had with his family was three days ago. Since then he has not been able to get in touch with them, and he has constantly been afraid of what could happen.

– They don’t have electricity down there, so we don’t get any information. The only thing we do is watch TV and the news all the time, because they write which families have died, he says.

At the same time as he watches TV, he tries to keep the restaurant in Tromsø going. All the while trying to connect with his family.

– My whole family is down there in Gaza, and I haven’t seen them since I came here in 2014. I try to call there, but I can’t get through.

Asking for good news

There must have been a total of 20 people on the floor when the block was hit by an attack from the air. He is now hoping for good news about the eight they have yet to find.

– The machine they need to get them out has not arrived yet. I don’t know if they are dead or if they are still alive.

Since the air raid happened early in the morning, he thinks they were all asleep when it happened.

– They were never called and told that they should get to safety. The youngest was little Lana, who was only an infant of two months.

Israel: Will step up the attacks

Israel’s military plans to step up attacks on Gaza on Saturday night.

– We must enter the next phase of the war under the best conditions, not according to what someone tells us. From today we are increasing the attacks and minimizing the danger, said Daniel Hagari, spokesman for the Israeli military (IDF), according to Times of Israel.

In a statement earlier Saturday, he accused Hamas of killing civilians in Gaza through misfired rockets.

– The whole world knows

It is difficult for Zourob to find words to explain what is happening in Gaza now.

– I don’t have much to say about what happens down there. The whole world knows what’s going on.

He doesn’t think the situation will improve anytime soon.

– All I do now is think about my family. But this is not going to stop as long as they get money and bombs from the US, I have nothing more to say.
