A week before the release of the psychological horror Alan Wake 2, the game’s creators announced the system requirements. And they turned out to be quite high: for example, a video card of the GeForce RTX 2060 level is only suitable for minimal settings. The same applies to the Intel i5-7600K processor and its analogues.
Players notethat they worked great on their assembly Control and Red Dead Redemption 2, but Alan Wake 2 will only run without ray tracing and DLSS. At the same time, the requirements for the processor are almost the same and very modest, and the video card will bear the main load. And this may indicate that after the release there will be complaints about optimization.
Expert Digital Foundry Alex Battaglia stood up for the creators of the game, saying that beauty requires sacrifice, and the names of settings can be relative.
Battaglia emphasized that players should not rely on the terms “low” or “ultra.” In different games they can mean completely different results. However, a number of players are glad that they chose the PlayStation 5.
Alan Wake 2 releases October 27 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
