200,000 Abdala Vaccines for Covid-19: Protecting Tlaxcala’s Population Aged 5-17, 18+, and Elderly with Comorbidities

40 thousand doses are available in the state’s Medical Units for the population aged 5 to 17, 18 years and older with comorbidities and older adults.

The Health Sector reported that Tlaxcala will receive 200 thousand doses of vaccines against Covid-19 from the biological Abdala for the 2023-2024 winter season, which will be applied to protect the population from 5 to 17 years old, 18 years and older with comorbidities, as well as as over 60 years of age.

40 thousand doses are available in the medical units of the IMSS-Wellbeing, Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers (Issste), as well as in the medical units of the Health Sector, the rest of the vaccines will gradually arrive in the state.

The health of the population is a priority for Governor Lorena Cuéllar Cisneros, which is why she managed 200,000 vaccines to reduce possible Covid-19 infections among the population during the cold season.

The vaccine against Covid-19 will be applied from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., to people between 5 and 17 years old who do not have a protective dose, as well as to the population aged 18 years and older with comorbidities such as uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, obesity and chronic lung disease.

As well as asthma, cardiovascular diseases, chronic kidney failure, immunosuppression acquired by treatment or illness, cancer, people with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and chronic arterial hypertension.

Also, the population over 60 years of age may apply the first dose or booster that corresponds after the last vaccine received. If people were vaccinated four months or more ago, they can go to the nearest medical unit to be vaccinated and have protection against Covid-19.

The Tlaxcala Health Sector stated that the Abdala vaccine has a protective efficacy against the virus of between 88.99 and 92.33 percent against moderate to severe conditions. (Bulletin)
