Local political scientist Nazaket Mamedova was detained in Azerbaijan and is suspected of spying for the Russian Federation. He writes about this on Friday, October 20 First News Media with reference to a statement by journalist Anar Mammadov.

Other details of Mamedova’s detention have not been reported. It is also not specified what information she could have transmitted to Russian intelligence services.

At the same time, the publication notes that Mamedova is known for provocative materials in which she harshly criticized Turkey and engaged in Russian propaganda.

In turn, Russian Telegram channels write that Mamedova is a frequent guest of Russian media and supports SVO. In particular, a year ago, in an interview with one of the Russian propaganda publications, she supported the annexation of Ukrainian territories announced by the Russian Federation.

In addition, in her speeches, in a propaganda style, she accused the West of “attempting to change the identity of the Azerbaijanis,” and when commenting on the conflict in Karabakh, she called Russia “the only guarantor of security in Transcaucasia.”

Let us remind you that last week SBU officers detained a man in Odessa who is suspected of working for Russian intelligence. According to the department, the detainee was introduced into one of the international organizations in order to spy on the military in the region.

In September, the SBU exposed a Russian FSB agent in Dnepr who was collecting information about the movement of Ukrainian army units.
