U.S. Supreme Court Lifts Restrictions on Biden Administration’s Efforts to Combat Disinformation on Social Media

The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday lifted lower court restrictions on President Joe Biden’s administration’s ability to encourage social media companies to remove content considered disinformation, including concerns elections and COVID-19.

The justices granted the administration’s urgent request to stay a preliminary injunction restricting how the White House and certain other federal officials communicate with social media platforms, and also agreed to consider the government’s appeal and to hear the arguments in this case.
