A serious car accident involving a three-car pile-up occurred at 9:30 pm on the 20th on the 414.3-kilometer-long Pingtung section of National Highway 3 south. The police arrived at the scene and confirmed that 5 people were slightly or seriously injured. One of them, a baby about 2 months old, was suspected to have been thrown out of the car. He had no breathing or heartbeat at the scene. A woman in her 50s was also unconscious. All 5 people have been sent to the hospital. Details The cause of the crash remains to be clarified.

The fire department stated that after receiving the report, it immediately dispatched Zhutian, Wantan, Linluo, Chaozhou and other units to the scene, with a total of 5 vehicles and 10 people. Among them, a 2-month-old baby was sent to Changdong Port Antai Hospital; a 50-year-old woman who was in a coma with an open fracture of her left foot was sent to Chaozhou Antai Hospital; a 4-year-old boy with a laceration on the back of his head was sent to Pingji; Wan The Dan ambulance transported two injured persons (a 32-year-old male and a 43-year-old female, both of whom were conscious) to Pingtung Rongzong.

The High Engineering Bureau stated that the traffic accident involving three passenger cars was eliminated at 10:40 pm on the 20th, and traffic resumed. The rear traffic flow was blocked for about 3 kilometers. Drivers are advised to change routes in advance.
