Bomb warnings targeted 14 airports in France on Friday morning, and three of them were evacuated according to sources who provided identical information, causing disruptions in air traffic for the third day in a row.
Sources working in the field of air transport confirmed that the threats affected 14 airports, two of which were evacuated: Bordeaux (southwest) and Béziers (south) airports. Several other airports received threatening messages, including Rennes Airport (west), which also carried out an evacuation as a “precautionary measure,” according to state agencies.
The warnings disrupted the work of airports for the third day in a row, and coincided with the start of a school holiday on the occasion of All Saints’ Day on Friday evening throughout France, which increased the demand for flights.
French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin confirmed, yesterday evening, Thursday, that 18 people had been arrested within 48 hours against the backdrop of these warnings, which also affected educational institutions and tourist sites.
These warnings have been increasing in France for several days, especially after the attack that resulted in the stabbing death of teacher Dominique Bernard in the city of Arras.
The government warned on Wednesday that every threat would be the subject of a complaint. Justice Minister Eric Dupont-Moretti denounced those who “enjoy these false threats.”
The penalty for these actions can reach two years in prison and a fine of 30,000 euros.
