Jakarta, Jurnas.com – The WhatsApp messaging application announced that it will stop supporting certain Android models starting on October 24, 2023.
This is part of WhatsApp’s regular practice of dropping support for older models when they update features and system interfaces.
“Each year, like other technology companies, we review devices and software that are older and have fewer and fewer users. These devices may no longer receive the latest security updates or no longer have the features needed to run WhatsApp,” WhatsApp said in a statement his official statement, quoted Friday (20/10/2023).
More specifically, WhatsApp will end support for Android 5.0 and earlier versions starting next week. This not only affects Samsung phones, but also other Android devices still running version 5.0 Lollipop or earlier.
WhatsApp has periodically reminded users to upgrade before the changes take effect. To find out if your device will be affected, you need to check the version of the operating system you are using by going to your Android phone’s “Settings”, then visiting the “About phone” section and viewing the software information.
When your device’s operating system is no longer compatible with WhatsApp, you will receive repeated alerts and alerts.
“Regarding the end of support for your operating system, we will provide notification and remind you several times to update your device so you can still use WhatsApp. We will also periodically update our information page to ensure that the latest Android version that we support remains listed there ,” said WhatsApp.
