A woman underwent grueling cancer treatment for two years before she was told she had been misdiagnosed, according to a website “The Sun”.
Megan Rowell’s world was turned upside down when doctors told her she had the disease, and then again when they told her they had made a huge mistake.
The 32-year-old went so far as to freeze her eggs after immunotherapy, a treatment that affects fertility.
Megan said: “I spent two years thinking I had cancer, and went through all the treatment. Then I was told there was no cancer at all in my body.”
Megan had surgery to remove a 2cm-wide tissue to remove what was believed to be skin cancer.
She then started immunotherapy, completing nine cycles.
By May 2021, she was told that the cancer had been eliminated. But she later discovered from another hospital that the cancer did not exist in the first place.
