Netflix has announced the official trailer for the animated series “Onmyoji”, which will be launched on November 28 and is adapted from the classic fantasy novel “Onmyoji” by Dream Pillow Tapir.
“Onmyoji” stars Daisuke Namikawa, Shintaro Asanuma, and Yui Ishikawa. The protagonist Abe Seimei is probably the most famous onmyoji master, living in the middle of Japan’s Heian period.
The story follows the onmyoji Abe Seimei (played by Daisuke Namikawa) and his partner Minamoto Hiromasa (played by Shintaro Asanuma) as they solve cases between humans and demons. The story takes place in ancient Kyoto, where Hiromasa seeks Seimei’s help to unravel the mystery of the demons plaguing the city. Seimei is usually indifferent to the human world and initially reluctant to help, but the two eventually work together to restore peace to the capital.
Official introduction: “Yearing, obsession, burning desire… When people’s uncontrollable emotions begin to overflow, it is the time to become demons. The ordeal of these friends who are destined to be incompatible with each other begins now.”
It is understood that the first “Onmyoji” short story collection was released in 1988, followed by 14 short story collections, 3 novels and 3 picture books. The comic adaptation was released in 1993.
