The 2023 MTV EMAs, scheduled for November 5 in Paris, have been canceled due to the ongoing war in the Middle East. The organizers announced the decision in a note. The awards ceremony scheduled in the French capital was full of guests and performances, including David Guetta, The Kid Laroi, Sabrina Carpenter and Jung Kook of Bts.
Taylor Swift was the most nominated artist (seven nominations), followed by Olivia Rodrigo and Sza (six). Maneskin, as well as Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj, earned four nominations each. The organizers said that the decision to cancel the evening was dictated by “extreme caution”, thinking of the artists and those who were due to take part in the awards show. The event will return in 2024.
