Uncertainty Looms Over Humanitarian Aid Supplies as Rafah Crossing Delays Opening

(CNN) – The fate of humanitarian aid supplies directed to civilians in Gaza remains unclear, with growing concerns about the rapid deterioration of conditions for residents stuck in the besieged Strip, as multiple sources told CNN, on Thursday, that the vital Rafah crossing is no longer expected to open. On Friday, in front of the first aid convoy.

“I wouldn’t bet on trucks passing tomorrow,” a source familiar with the discussions told CNN, explaining that the situation is “volatile.”

US officials said the situation remains fluid. Road repairs are needed on the Egyptian side of the crossing, and there are concerns about making sure the deliveries are sustainable and not a one-off.

It is noteworthy that the supplies of electricity, food, fuel, and water were cut off from all residents of Gaza for more than a week under the “total siege” imposed by Israel following the attacks launched by Hamas on October 7, which it called the “Al-Aqsa Flood.”

On Wednesday, US President Joe Biden announced the conclusion of an agreement between Egypt and Israel to allow some aid to enter Gaza. Speaking on his way back from a visit to Israel, Biden said that his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, had agreed to open the Rafah crossing into Gaza for aid. Humanity – It is the only crossing that is not controlled by Israel.
