A Journey of Lost Books: Exciting Programming at the Book Fairs in Nuevo León

Guests, authors, illustrators and surprises characterize the programming.

Monterrey, Nuevo León.- To bring readers of all ages closer to books, their creators and their illustrators, the Secretariat of Culture of Nuevo León organizes Book Fairs for the Cultural Spheres of Galeana, El Carmen and García from Thursday, October 19 to Saturday, October 21.

A diverse cultural program with talks, dialogues and workshops gives the profile of a cultural offer that has been highly anticipated by the population of the communities that host the Spheres.

The Book Fair, conceived as a traveling event, is titled “A Journey of Lost Books” and, as an additional element, has exceptional guests participating.

“For the Secretary of Culture, promoting these spaces in the different municipalities of Nuevo León is a fundamental part of the commitment that Governor Samuel García Sepúlveda has made with the citizens. And what better than promoting reading, through the book fairs that we are sharing in the Cultural Spheres to build audiences and reinforce the agenda of activities for the whole family,” declared Melissa Segura Guerrero, head of the agency that recently celebrated its second anniversary of being installed in the State cabinet.

Visitors to the Esferas have thus met Juan Gedovius, a self-taught writer, musician and illustrator, who has created some of his stories only with the language of images. Author of “Trucas”, “Yipo”, “La Casa del Snark”. “Tintodonte”, “The Little Prince”, among others.

In addition, shows were scheduled such as the staging of “The Legend of the Birdman and Los Agapitos” by Percha Teatro. In this charming show with regional overtones, attendees will learn about the Witch of the Northeast, and the Witch of the Petaca tell us a legend from Nuevo León. The proposal is a fun work where we will see how the Cerro de la Silla is born; how being sentimental turns out to be a great power and how the citizens of Nuevo León always move forward through teamwork and solidarity.

Another of the participants has been the musical group “La Hormiga Juana”, who have prepared their children’s rock and are visiting Nuevo León from the city of Puebla. Their proposal is an interactive concert where the band seeks to create a bond between children and adults, and at the same time establish a connection between the members and their audience.

Among the authors summoned is Minerva Ruiz, author of the book “I want to hug you,” which addresses a story that was found in the streets of Monterrey, imagining ways to experience the city as a child. This book is part of the Apapachos Collection designed for early childhood, with authors from our entity and was presented last weekend at the 31st edition of the Monterrey International Book Fair.

The activities of the Cultural Spheres of the Secretariat of Culture of Nuevo León are completely free and the agenda for this Friday and Saturday at the Book Fairs will also include shows, workshops, coexistence and spaces for dialogue for the community.

You can follow the programming in detail on the social networks of the Nuevo León Ministry of Culture on all platforms.
