Dawn Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto qualify for the quarterfinals Denmark Open 2023. Fajar/Rian went through a tough battle for three games against Ben Lane/Sean Vendy.
In the round of 16 match at the Denmark Open 2023 at Jyske Bank Arena, Odense, Friday (20/10) early morning WIB, Fajar/Rian lost the first game. Through a tight battle, Fajar/Rian finally won 19-21, 21-19, 21-19 after fighting for 1 hour 10 minutes.
The match was tight at the start of the first game. Fajar/Rian and Lane/Vendy took turns winning points until the score was tied at 10-10.
Fajar/Rian started to fall behind after the interval after Lane/Vendy won four points in a row. Since then, Fajar/Rian has continued to be in a chasing position.
Having been four points behind, Fajar/Rian closed to a difference of only one point. In the end, Fajar/Rian lost the first game 19-21.
Fajar/Rian took the lead at the start of the second game and entered the interval with an 11-10 advantage. They were three points ahead at 14-11.
However, Fajar/Rian’s points tally then stuck at 16. Meanwhile, Lane/Vendy won four points in a row to take the lead 18-16.
After being tight until 19-19, Fajar/Rian finally reached game point first. They were finally able to win the second game 21-19 to force a rubber game.
Fajar/Rian started the deciding game well after winning 6-2. They continued to maintain their advantage and led 11-5 at the interval.
After the interval, Lane/Vendy got close to winning three points in a row. Fajar/Rian’s lead finally vanished after Lane/Vendy equalized the score at 17-17.
Fajar/Rian responded by winning three consecutive points to reach match point. Even though Lane/Vendy came close to winning two points, Fajar/Rian finally managed to lock in a 21-19 win.
In the quarter-finals of the Denmark Open 2023, Fajar/Rian will face Jin Yong/Na Sung Seung. The Korean pair qualified after winning over Japanese representatives, Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi.
