Mobile Vaccine Initiative Benefits Over 70,000 Guatemalans: Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance

Guatemala City, Oct 19 (AGN).- The Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MSPAS) has managed to benefit more than 70 thousand Guatemalans through the initiative Mobile Vaccine.

According to the Health Ministry, to date 361 days of this program have been developed, reaching the 22 departments of the country.

This strategy is supported by the Government of Guatemala in order to bring medical services to hard-to-reach communities and provide quality care to Guatemalans who reside in vulnerable conditions.

Medical services

Through the Mobile Vaccine brigades, health personnel provide a variety of services. Some of them are:

general medical consultation nutrition protection for children under five years of age weight and height monitoring deworming delivery of vitamins vaccination of children under five years of age for disease prevention pregnancy control supplementation pap smear examinations family planning prenatal control rabies vaccination

Mobile Vaccine

The purpose of this initiative is to support communities in health issues. Therefore, the Mobile Vaccine brigades, coordinated by the MSPAS, visit Guatemalans who reside in poverty. The Health portfolio is responsible for identifying the most vulnerable areas with difficult access to these care services.

In this sense, the groups are made up of ministry personnel, nutritionists and support staff with experience in nursing and in the promotion of medical services.

The objective is for health professionals to visit each of the regions, in search of cases of acute malnutrition in children under 5 years of age. This is to initiate or follow up on treatments that help counteract the conditions in which they reside.
