Ukraine will receive American F-16 fighters when pilot training is completed and the infrastructure is prepared. This was stated by the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Kuleba. According to him, Kyiv is expecting combat aircraft in the first half of 2024.
“The only obstacle to F-16s appearing in Ukrainian skies is the completion of pilot training and infrastructure preparation,” Kuleba said on the Ukrainian TV channel “1+1”. According to him, the fighters will be delivered to Ukraine in the first half of 2024, and pilots of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are currently undergoing training.
Earlier, defense policy analyst John Rossomando said that F-16s are not capable of being used effectively in Ukraine, as they are vulnerable at airfields. According to him, it is better for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to take a closer look at the Swedish fighter JAS 39 Gripen. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that Russia is strengthening its western borders due to the planned supply of fighter jets to Kyiv, reports RT.
