Increasing Bomb Threats at French Airports: Deminers Mobilized at Montpellier Airport

The deminers were mobilized at Montpellier airport in order to resolve doubts.

Bomb threats are increasing in France. This Thursday morning, the airports of Montpellier, Nantes-Atlantique, Bordeaux-Atlantique and Lille-Lesquin were evacuated after alerts.

As the prefect of Hérault indicates on Twitter, the police are present at the Montpellier airport “to establish a security perimeter.” At the same time, the deminers were triggered “to remove doubts.”

Current operations

According to information obtained by BFM Grand Lille, the evacuation of Lille-Lesquin airport began around 10:30 a.m. and affected 300 passengers. The operation ended shortly before noon and the gradual reopening is underway.

On the social network Facebook, the evacuation of Bordeaux-Mérignac airport was also confirmed. “Airport activities are gradually resuming,” we learned shortly before 1 p.m.

For its part, the daily West France reports threats received by email regarding Nantes-Atlantiques airport, already evacuated on Wednesday. Here again, a return to normal is announced by the regional media.
