The political leader of Hamas in the West Bank said the militant group would be willing to release some hostages if Israel agreed to a 24-hour ceasefire.

Hamas has no interest in holding women and children hostage and would likely be willing to release them and the foreign hostages if Israel agreed to a ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza, Sheikh Hassan Youssef said in an interview with ” Globe and Mail’.

He stated: “When circumstances permit, we will release them.”

Youssef called on the international community to negotiate a pause so that some of the hostages could be released safely.

“We are ready. Let it happen. But the attack must stop,” the Hamas leader said. /BGNES
