Italy head coach Luciano Spalletti was impressed by Jude Bellingham’s assist for Marcus Rashford and refused to blame his players after England’s second goal against the Azzurri.
Rashford’s goal gave England the lead in a Euro 2024 qualifier in the 57th minute at Wembley Stadium. It was inspired by Bellingham, who regained possession with a tackle, flicked it past an Italian midfielder and passed it to the Manchester United striker, who beat Gigio Donnarumma at the far post.
As the RAI pitch reporter reported at Wembley, Spalletti was so impressed by Bellingham’s move that he told his assistant Marco Domenichini: “You can’t do much with things like that.”
Italy took the lead in the first half thanks to an impressive team goal from Gianluca Scamacca, who scored for the first time with Italy at senior level.
Harry Kane equalized before half-time, converting a penalty earned by Bellingham.
