Mariama Konté/Gnanou took office on October 12, 2023 as Governor of the Hauts-Bassins region, during a ceremony for this purpose, within the governorate of Bobo-Dioulasso. She was installed by Émile Zerbo, minister in charge of territorial administration and replaces Colonel Moussa Diallo in this position.
Mariama Konaté/Gnanou is the new Governor of Hauts-Bassins. She is the first woman to hold this position in this region. Position which was previously occupied by Colonel Moussa Diallo who spent a year, seven months and eighteen days there. During this ceremony, in turn, the representative of the staff of the governorate, the Hauts-Bassins regional council, businessmen and established bodies wished good luck to the new Governor. But first, they welcomed the task accomplished by the outgoing Governor, Colonel Moussa Diallo. In this regard, the former tenant of the Bobo governorate did not wish to provide a complete assessment of his time at the head of the Hauts-Bassins region. But he nevertheless listed some achievements under the Governorate and the Hauts-Bassins regional council under his magister. Among which we can note the strengthening of dialogue with all the vice forces in the region. The governor’s residence, offices as well as the governorate’s headquarters were renovated, among other things. Colonel Moussa Diallo expressed his gratitude to the population of Hauts-Bassins for the honor done to him. He was full of praise for his replacement who was one of his closest collaborators, since she was until then general secretary of Hauts-Bassins. For him, this appointment is not the result of chance. Mariama Konaté/Gnanou, for her part, is not unaware of the heaviness of the task entrusted to her. She affirms that just like her predecessor, no taking lightly will be considered. She therefore says she is available and committed to implementing government policy in this part of Burkina Faso. “I have faith in this mission,” proclaims the new Governor, and commits once again to accomplishing it with loyalty and dignity, without forgetting the difficulties.
