Changes and Challenges: Örgryte IS Announces Organizational Restructuring

Örgryte IS is in a difficult position in Superettan. The team is parked in a negative qualifying spot with four rounds left to play. Only the number of goals scored is what keeps Öis on the right side of the direct relegation line.

Now the club is making a series of changes that were announced at a members’ meeting on Tuesday evening, writes GP.

Commercial manager Niklas Allbäck is leaving Öis and acting club manager Andreas Karlsson is stepping down from his position – to get a new role. Allbäck was not present at the meeting but commented on his resignation in another text message GP.

– There is no drama in this decision. I have full confidence in the board in their work to move the new organization forward. Now new challenges await me, but before that we will try to finish 2023 as best we can, he writes.

At the member’s meeting, chairman Terje Johansson communicated a rough plan for how Öis wants to shape its organization next, both a super one and a division 1 scenario were presented. In both plans it is clear that Öis wants to bring in an operational manager and a sports manager.

– That’s how it will look, says Terje Johansson.

During 2023, Andreas Karlsson has acted as both acting club manager and sports manager. Chairman Terje Johansson announced at the meeting that Karlsson will not take on either of the two “new” roles. He will, according to the new plan, instead return to his previous role as head of academy and also become women’s manager.

Örgryte’s next match in the super league is played on Sunday at home against Trelleborg.
