Koeman receives application: ‘I have the qualities to be in Orange’

Jordan Teze believes that he has enough qualities to get a place in the Dutch squad in the near future. He tells this in front of the camera at ESPN. He hopes to quickly convince national coach Ronald Koeman, despite the fierce competition in his position.
Teze looks back on missing out on the World Cup in Qatar. Former national coach Louis van Gaal allowed him to make his debut in the Dutch national team earlier in 2022, in the 2-1 Nations League match against Wales, but subsequently did not include the PSV defender in his World Cup selection.
“I think it was about consistency. When they were working towards the World Cup, I wasn’t really playing my matches. I wasn’t in a certain form that he might have wanted to see,” said Teze.
The PSV defender knows that it will not be easy to win a place in Koeman’s team. “The competition for my position is fierce,” says Teze realistically.
“We just have very good players there. I know that I have the qualities to be there. It is up to me to show that, week in week out, and not to give Koeman a choice.”
Teze, who mainly plays as a right back at PSV, could play as the right-sided central defender or as a right wing-back in Koeman’s 5-3-2 formation. However, with players like Denzel Dumfries, Lutsharel Geertruida, Jeremie Frimpong and Jurriën Timber, Koeman has quite a few flavors in those positions.
It will be difficult for Teze to convince Koeman, but he hopes to make the national coach think in the coming weeks. “I just hope to join the Dutch team as soon as possible and to show in the Champions League matches that I can also perform at international level. Ultimately, it is up to him whether he wants to select me or not.”
