The Cape Town International Conference Center in South Africa is hosting Africa Oil Week from Monday until next Friday. Gabon is present at this important meeting by a delegation made up of engineers and technicians from the sector led by the technical advisor to the Ministry of Oil, responsible for upstream oil, Rodrigue Rogandji Mba and the deputy director general of hydrocarbons, Fernand Epigat . The Gabonese delegation intends to take advantage of this exhibition platform par excellence to boast of its rich gas and mining potential. With the aim of attracting investors to the countless deposits.

In partnership with the multinational Perenco, Gabon is about to complete, thanks to an investment of 32 billion F, the construction of a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and butane gas plant in Batanga in the province. of Ogooué Martime. According to estimates, this mega project will produce 15,000 tonnes per year. Subsequently, the construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) production plant at Cap Lopez in Port-Gentil is also planned in 2024. The production phase planned for 2026 will have to bring out 700,000 tonnes of liquefied natural gas from Gabonese soil. The reserve located off the coast of Mayumba in the Nyanga province will allow the construction of a gas pipeline to supply the gas power plant. Start of work: 2024.

The South African meeting is therefore a boon for the Gabonese delegation to sell this rich potential and find partners with a view to its exploitation.
