Detainee in Subsidized Fertilizer Corruption Case Allegedly Taken on Unauthorized Excursion

Detainee in subsidized fertilizer corruption case in Siak, Riau, Suparmin was allegedly taken on an excursion to an oil palm plantation by Bungaraya Police Chief AKP Selemet. Siak Police Propam also checked AKP Selemet.

From the circulating photos and videos received detikNorth Sumatra, Suparmin was seen not being handcuffed when looking at his garden. He was also not escorted by police.

Suparmin looks relaxed looking at the oil palm plantation wearing a blue t-shirt, sarong and black cap. Apart from Suparmin, two men were seen accompanying him.

Regarding Suparmin leaving without handcuffs and an escort, Siak Police Chief AKBP Asep Sujarwadi did not want to comment much. He admitted that he was still waiting for the results of the Propam examination.

“Propam is still investigating this, we are waiting for the results of Propam’s examination,” said Asep, as reported detikNorth SumatraTuesday (17/10/2023).

Asep confirmed that Suparmin was a prisoner of the Siak District Prosecutor’s Office. He is a suspect in subsidized fertilizer corruption in Kerinci Kanan who was arrested on October 4.
