The office of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi announced that the president and his American counterpart, Joe Biden, stressed the need to contain the Palestinian-Israeli conflict so that it does not threaten security in the region.
An Egyptian presidential spokesman said in a statement that the two presidents agreed in a phone call “on the seriousness of the current situation and the importance of containing it in a way that does not allow the circle of conflict to expand and threaten regional security and stability.” He added: “There was also agreement on the priority of protecting civilians and delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.”
In this context, the White House announced that US President Joe Biden held telephone conversations with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, after Egypt called for an international summit to discuss “developments in the Palestinian issue.”
Biden also held talks with German Chancellor Olaf Schulz regarding the visit that the latter intends to make this week to both Israel and Egypt.
