Hokies Women’s Soccer Falls to Virginia in 3-0 Decision

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia – The Virginia Tech women’s soccer team lost by decision 3-0 to Virginia on Sunday, October 15 at Klöckner Stadium.

The Hokies’ record drops to 6-6-3 (3-4 ACC), while the Cavaliers climb to 6-3-5 (1-3-3 ACC).

How did it happen
Virginia’s Chloe Japic scored the first goal of the game, giving the Cavaliers a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute.

The Hokies headed into the locker room down one point, recording five shots in the first 45 minutes.

The Cavaliers won the match in the second half, increasing their lead 2-0 in the 58th minute. Maggie Cagle locked up the game for Virginia by scoring in the 64th minute, making it 3-0.

Tech struggled to get into the Cavaliers’ box recording just two shots on goal in the 90 minutes of play. Virginia earned its first conference win of the season.

Game notes

Goalkeeper Alia Skinner made a season-high nine saves. Samantha DeGuzman lead the Hokies in shots with four. The Hokies faced a 19-8 shooting deficit. The Cavaliers won their first ACC game of the season.
