Riga Chamber Choir “Ave Sol” Pre-Jubilee Concert Season Opening: The Sun is for You. Autumn.

on October 24, 2023 at 19.00 Riga Chamber Choir “Ave Sol” in Riga Culture and Folk Art Center “Mazā gilde” opens the pre-jubilee concert season with the concert “The sun is for you. Autumn.”.

The concert will feature the pearls of Latvian choral music, the golden repertoire of the Riga Chamber Choir “Ave Sol” and musical masterpieces performed by the chamber choir since the beginning of its existence. Some of the brightest and most saturated compositions that will be heard at the concert – the vocalizations of the dreamy graphic artist Jānis Ivanovs “Gubu ogundi” (1970) and “Jūsma” (1982). Alongside them is a part of Pēter Plakiž’s famous choral symphony “Destiny” (1985), written specifically for the Riga Chamber Choir “Ave Sol”. Plakiž’s choral music will be complemented by readings by the owner of the clear voice, Aleksandra Špitzberga.

The new generation beauty seeker Jēkab Jančevski’s masterpiece for choir and cello “When” with Shakespeare’s poetry (2016) and “Meditation for light” for violin and piano (2020) will also be performed. The Chamber Choir sang “Līdzenuma Ainavas” composed by Pēteris Vaskas for choir, violin and cello at the turn of the century, but everything will be crowned by his vision “Fruit of Silence” (text by Mother Teresa), which was written as a testimony to the vitality of eternal love.

At the conductor’s desk, the conductor of the Riga Chamber Choir “Ave Sol” Jurģis Cābulis, who made his debut at the Mežaparks stage this summer in honor of the Chief Conductor, speaks. “The concert program today touches exactly this time of year. More even in such a musical coloring. If the pastel technique in the visual arts could be transferred to music, then this program and the created sequence would vividly embody it. The outstanding musicians who will participate in this concert will perform both together with the Riga Chamber Choir “Ave Sol” and solo. From Ivanov’s rich vocals to Janczewski’s sophisticated Shakespeare. Autumn of light… Autumn of reflection… Transcendent autumn…” says the conductor.

The charming pianist Agnese Egliņa, one of the leading Latvian violinists Marta Spārniņa, the inimitable cellist Āriks Kiršfelds and the soloist of the Riga Chamber Choir “Ave Sol” Aleksandra Špitsberga will perform as soloists.

Tickets for the concert can be purchased at “Biļešu paradīze” ticket offices and at www.bilesuparadize.lv
