Since Henning Berg took over as the new head coach in AIK, Abdussalam Magashy has been crazy. The Nigerian joined as a prestige signing last winter but will most likely be on his way away from the northern parts of Stockholm already after one season.
The 25-year-old got his Allsvenskan breakthrough in IFK Värnamo, from which he came to “Gnaget”, last year. This summer, the Småland club revealed that a question had been asked to AIK about Magahy’s availability, but a move was not in question at the time.
For the site Football direct sporting director Enes Ahmetovic now confirms that IFK Värnamo’s interest in the prodded AIK midfielder is intact and that a new recruitment attempt will be made this winter.
– We had a fairly obvious dialogue this summer, which was written about at the time and it is true that we had a dialogue then, then the series started and the window had just closed. But it is a dialogue we will take up again and ask the question. It is both our opportunity and our obligation in this situation, says Ahmetovic to the site.
– Just in Magashy’s case, it’s AIK’s player, so I’m not going to stand and make a statement about him. But IFK Värnamo will always have an interest in Magashy, I can say that.
In total, there have been two goals in 14 games for Abdussalam Magashy in the AIK shirt. His contract runs through the 2026 season.
